In 2021, the Seattle International Film Festival went virtual for the first time. For an event and community that usually is championing gathering together and sharing live experiences, figuring out how to say “together, but apart” was a challenge. Additionally, with a missed 2020 festival season we wanted to bring the excitement as much as we could and let people know that 2021 wasn’t going to be a lost year too. Thus, the “It’s Happening!” campaign was born.

I designed the building concept and worked with my team to create a general layout for the poster. I searched illustrators to find one that was a match and continually worked back and forth with her throughout the process to create the final artwork. We then had the illustrator strip out the parts and pieces from the poster so that I could create a toolkit to pass along to the SIFF team for the creation of additional print, social, and digital assets.
